FROM THE AUTHOR OF THE TOP SELLING WAY BEYOND SATIRE
(WILKINSON PUBLISHING 2016) AND EDITOR OF THE SPECTATOR AUSTRALIA
HILARIOUS FICTION NOVEL BASED ON REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES OF
ADVERTISING IN 1980S LONDON AND THE AWARD-WINNING GREATEST
COMMERCIAL OF ALL TIME, THE HAMLET CIGARS PHOTOBOOTH AD,
WRITTEN BY ROWAN DEAN
Those 'Mad Men' of the '60s were absolute amateurs compared to their successors
in London's glam and decadent 1980s advertising scene, where money, long
lunches and eye-watering expense accounts were the order of the day.
From sabotaging the glitzy marble halls of New York advertising awards to
hijacking gondolas in Venice, this hilarious novel takes you on a roller-coaster ride
through the extravagantly indulgent world of 1980s creative advertising with all
its narcissistic fame and glory.
Written by one of Australia's fi nest satirists and one its best-known 1980s
advertising gurus, Corkscrewed will leave you breathless with shock and disbelief,
and drooling with envy!
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Rowan Dean is a regular political satirist with the Australian
Financial Review, as well as a political columnist with other mainstream Australian
newspapers. He is also the Editor of The Spectator Australia, the Australian arm
of the English language's oldest continually published political and cultural
magazine. As well as writing, Rowan is a popular TV guest on Sky News and the
ABC where his unfl inching mixture of humour and hard-core political insights is
valued on programs as diverse as The Bolt Report, Paul Murray Live, Viewpoint, Jones
& Co., The Drum, and of course the ABC's Q&A. He is the author of Way Beyond
Satire (Wilkinson Publishing).
