First Colonial edition. Stamped and ruled in gilt and blind. Printed in the same year as the John Murray first edition, but for dissemination in the British colonies. This copy was likely dispatched to Australia.
Overall condition: Very Good. Dust jacked unclipped. Some rubbing and chipping along edges and corners, particularly at spine head towards front cover crease. Binding in excellent condition, square and tight. Gilt stamping on spine a little dulled, but remains clear and legible. Some mild soiling to front cover board. Contents generally in very good condition. Foxing present along text block edges, and here and there throughout. Some minor indentations along text block foredge, though edge cutting seems to have been somewhat rough initially. Overall, a good, sturdy, and largely clean copy of Doyle's popular Holmes short story anthology.
First Colonial edition. London: G. Bell and Sons, LTD., (1917). 8vo. Original red cloth hardcover in original unclipped dust jacket. Pages: viii, 306.
