Shipping policy

Carrier
All our items are shipped with Australia Post. If you are an international customer this will carry over to your national postal service, USPS, Royal Mail etc.

Despatch Expectation

Orders are shipped together in a single consignment. The estimated despatch times for individual products are displayed beneath the price on each product’s detail page.

Business Days
Please note: 'business' or 'working' days refer to Monday through Friday, excluding public holidays.

Products Despatched within 1 Business Day

If a product page indicates a 1-business-day despatch, this means we aim to send the item within one business day, provided that all items in the order qualify for this timeframe. If all items in your order are eligible for 1-business-day despatch, your entire order is expected to be processed and sent within that timeframe.

Products Despatched within 2 to 8 Business Days

If a product page indicates a 2 to 8-business-day despatch, this means the product needs to be transferred from one of our stores, which may result in a longer processing time. Your order, including any other items, will be shipped within 2 to 6 business days.

Important: If any item in your order has a 2 to 6-business-day despatch timeframe, the entire order is expected to be despatched within that timeframe. If you prefer to receive items eligible for 1-day despatch sooner, consider placing two separate orders.


Christmas Deliveries 2025

For delivery in time for Christmas, Australia Post recommends the following cut-offs:

  • Standard Delivery: 18th of December 2025.
  • Express Delivery: 21st of December 2025.

Please ensure expected dispatch times are taken into consideration when ordering in the run-up to Christmas.  

Online Store Operating Hours during Christmas Holidays

Please note that the Harry Hartog online store will be unattended on public holidays during the December and January holiday period.

  • Orders for In-Store Gift Vouchers, Bibliotonic & Subscriptions placed after 1 pm on Tuesday, 24th December, will be processed on 28th December.
  • Orders for books will also be packaged and shipped from 28th December.
  • Orders placed on 1st or 2nd January will be processed on Friday, 3rd January.

Overseas Customs

For international orders, please be aware that your consignment may be subject to import duties and taxes once it reaches the destination country. These charges must be paid by you, as we have no control over customs fees or clearance charges. We recommend checking with your local customs office for more information about import taxes/duties relevant to your country, as these vary widely.

Orders to the United States of America
The United States recently announced significant changes to its import tariff rules that will impact Postal customers sending items from Australia to the US.

Customers can still check out as normal, however some items may be subject to tariff charges. We will contact you with more information if your order requires a tariff charge. Items will not ship until the tariff has been paid.
