The full history of the Indochina Wars beginning with the French colonising Indochina and enslaving the people there. That goes on to the French passing laws which forbade the continued use of Chinese writing character. The French transcribed the entire Vietnamese language into the Latin script and taught that in all schools. That was done so as to enable more easy control of the population of the Vietnamese people! This resulted in Vietnam being the only country in Asia to use the Latin alphabet. This book also looks at the political issues surrounding the Second Indochina War (Vietnam War) and the political intrigues which were in place in Paris, Canberra, Washington and London as well as Moscow.
