Singed by Oxenbury to title page! First edition, first printing of Carol's beloved Alice in Wonderland illustrated by Helen Oxenbury. Oxenbury is one of the most significant British children's illustrators of the past half-century. She's a two-time Kate Greenaway Medal winner — the premier British award for children's illustration — and she won the second specifically for this Alice in 1999.

First edition thus, first printing. London: Walker Books, (1999). 4to. Original publisher's hardcover in original unclipped dust jacket. pp.207.

Bound in cream boards with a colour-illustrated vignette of Alice and the Rabbit to the cover. Spine lettered in black and illustrated in colour, with illustrated vignette of 5 of Hearts. Near Fine in very good/near fine dust jacket. A beautifully preserved copy with Oxenbury's neat ink signature to the title below her name. Dust jacket is unclipped (£14.99). There are some markings here and there with a small stain to the crease of the upper front fold in. The spine head shows some very minor creasing and the spine is a touch shelf faded. The hardcover bindings are clean and bright, well preserved. A small bump is present to the lower front corner. Binding is tight and square. Contents fine, clean, bright and bold throughout. One small and faint marking to upper foredge. Overall, a beautiful and rare signed copy of this beloved edition of a timeless classic.
