This is an account of the 24th ascent of Mont Blanc in August 1937 by a young Henry Martin Atkins. His decision to ascent the mountain was a sporadic one made during a visit.
First Edition. London: Not Published, 1838. 8vo. Original brown publisher's cloth. Pages: iii, 51, [ii].
Bound in original brown publisher's cloth. Gilt titling to cover. Cover decorated in blind. This copy does not have any plates. Given the sporadic nature of this book's publication, it was possible for copies of the first edition to have 6, 5, or no plates at all. Includes some printed material explaining the circumstances of the publication, as well as the broader history of early mountaineering.
Very good. Binding tight. Some fading and wear to spine. Some markings to cover. Contents in near fine condition. There is a single divot to the foredge, otherwise all pages are fresh and bright.
Full title: Ascent to the Summit of Mont Blanc, on the 22nd and 23rd of August, 1837.
