Overall, very good condition. Dust jacket price-clipped and in very good condition. Weathering along edges with a small chip on the front foredge crease. Two repairs previously made to top edge with transparent tape. Colours maintained well. Hardcover boards in excellent condition. Slight age toning on upper and lower edges. Very minor pushing towards extremities. Binding square and tight. End papers and pages in excellent condition. Edge painting on top edge has faded considerably. Booksellers' sticker on front end papers has created a small age mark on free end paper. Very minor foxing on foredge of paper block. 

First published as L'Etre et le Neant in 1943. First English translated edition. Translated by Hazel E. Barnes. Introduction written by translator. Lettering on spine in inlaid gilt.
