Beyond the Valley

Charlie Shore wants more than friendship between him and his best friend s sister, Meg. But Johnny Laslett assures Charlie that he is wasting his time even thinking of proposing to her. And it s not someone else who is challenging Charlie s plans, but somewhere else. Meg s heart is for the mission field of India, and she is as determined to go as Charlie is to prevent her from going. Then the people of Green Valley are shocked with the announcement of the outbreak of war in Europe. Charlie and Johnny know their duty as well as Meg knows her call. The Shore and Laslett families are left in anxiety and tension as their young people leave the valley to fight two very different battles on two very different fronts.
