Specifically, the material choices, construction methods, and design solutions developed by Australian architects to address local conditions, climate, and building traditions.

The RAIA (Royal Australian Institute of Architects, now known as the Australian Institute of Architects) has, since its foundation in 1929, served as the profession's principal representative and educational body in Australia, and its own publishing activity forms a useful and often underappreciated part of the documentary record of Australian architectural practice and pedagogy during the period of its production.
