Gideon the Ninth (Signed Limited First Edition)

The Hugo-shortlisted, Locus Award-winning debut that launched The Locked Tomb, here in the specially bound Illumicrate exclusive signed edition distributed through their August 2019 subscription box.

Tamsyn Muir's Gideon the Ninth, published in 2019, announced one of the most distinctive and critically acclaimed new voices in contemporary speculative fiction. The novel follows Gideon Nav, an indentured swordswoman serving the decaying Ninth House, who is reluctantly paired with her lifelong rival Harrowhark, the House's young necromancer, to compete in a deadly trial for the Emperor's favour. Muir's blend of gothic necromantic horror, baroque worldbuilding, and sharply contemporary prose established an immediate and devoted readership; the novel was shortlisted for the Hugo Award for Best Novel and won the Locus Award for Best First Novel.
