King’s monumental novel of the Losers’ Club and the thing beneath Derry, in the Hodder and Stoughton edition issued simultaneously with the Viking original.

IT was published by Viking in New York on 15 September 1986, in 1,138 pages. It is King’s 22nd book and his 17th novel under his own name. Set in Derry, Maine, in 1958 and again in 1985, it follows seven children who fight a shape-shifting predator that most often appears as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. They swear a blood oath to return if the creature ever resurfaces, and in 1985 Mike Hanlon telephones the others to remind them. The novel won the British Fantasy Award in 1987.

First UK edition, third impression (October 1986). Thick Octavo. 912 pp. Original black cloth boards, spine lettered in gilt. Original pictorial dust jacket, designed by Howard J. Shaw, illustrated by Gerald Grace, unclipped. Dust jacket unclipped, a bit chipped to spine head and toned along upper edge. Binding a touch cocked. Mild rubbing along edges of cloth covers. Contents toned at edges. Overall, a very good copy.
