For the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth, Lo Scarabeo celebrates the great writer with a unique deck of Tarot cards that will delight her admirers around the world. The anniversary will be celebrated on December 16, 2025.
At first glance, one might think that Jane Austen's writings are not particularly well suited to the occult nature of Tarot. However, Jane Austen's books and Tarot contain an essentially identical message: the vital importance of balance in our daily lives. Tarot illuminates the need for equilibrium with its very structure. The Major Arcana are devoted to matters of the spirit, while the Minor Arcana deal with the lesser, more mundane issues of life. In Jane Austen's Tarot, the four suits are represented by Candles, which relate to passion, energy, and initiative; Cups, which convey aspects of love and emotion; Quills, the rational, analytical, and intellectual side of life; and finally, Coins, which embody physical and tangible matters. Each of its evocative cards is based on a character or scene from Austen's writings, but no knowledge of Austen's work or the Tarot is necessary to use these cards.
