Folio Society limited facsimile edition. First edition thus. Numbered on limitation page, 77 of 1000.

Reproduced from the original printings between 1897 and 1898 by the J.B. Millet Company of Boston. This facsimile follows the text of the ten-volume deluxe edition. This is also the first edition to feature all 259 hand-coloured original photographs, 10 collotypes of flowers, 10 original-sized art prints, and the complete original text. Includes essays by Kakuzo Okakura and David Perkins. Endpapers are genuine Chiyogami paper. The binding designs follow those of the "Emperor" deluxe edition of 1897.

Both volumes housed in buckram slipcases (vol.i black, vol.ii red). Volumes bound in illustrated buckram (vol.i red, vol.ii black). Titling to spine in gilt. Covers illustrated in blocked gilt, black and white by Neil Gowers based on cover of original edition. All edges gilt. Contents printed on Natural Evolution paper and bound by Beltz Fine Books of Germany. Endpapers are genuine patterned Chiyogami paper, hand-made in Japan.

Overall condition: Fine. Impeccably preserved. All volumes and contents fine in like slipcases. A spectacular copy.
