Macquarie Thesaurus

The Macquarie Thesaurus contains an extensive range of words and phrases - from technical to general to colloquial. Based on the comprehensive Macquarie Dictionary -- Australia's National Dictionary, the thesaurus has been specifically compiled for users of Australian English. While the dictionary defines words, the thesaurus helps you find the words and phrases you need.

The Macquarie Thesaurus is divided into two sections: keywords and wordfinder. Keywords are arranged by theme, then arranged by part of speech and areas of meaning. The wordfinder is an alphabetical list of all keywords and words with related meanings to help you find the particular word you want.

Also included are special lists of terms which are not synonymous but closely related, e.g. lyrebird and magpie are both types of birds, but not interchangeable
