Regarded ask an original pioneer of Norwegian mountaineering, Slingsby made numerous first ascents in the country, including Store Skagastølstind in 1876, at the time Norway's highest peak. This volume contains Slingsby's climbing narratives with broader observations about the Norwegian landscape, culture, and outdoor life. Slingsby's work played a key role in establishing Norway as a premier destination for mountaineering and recreational tourism in the early 20th century.

Bound in original green publisher's buckram. Gilt titling to spine. All edges uncut. Very good. Binding has been previously refreshed with new endpapers. retains original covers. Mild rubbing to cover edges and corners. Slight darkening of spine. Gilt lettering well preserved. Contents in very good condition. Mild foxing here and there throughout, more prominent towards edges in some sections. Plates in excellent condition. Retains original fontis tissue guard.
