A scarcely seen facsimile edition of one of Picasso's original sketchbooks. Contains an introduction by the author with preliminary information, followed by the reproduction of Picasso's sketchbook.

Limited facsimile edition. London: Thames and Hudson, (1960). Folio. Original beige decorative cloth hardcover in decorative mylar wraparound. Pages: [xii], 50. Introduction insert and spiral bound main section included.

Features 50 pages of prints of original sketches by Picasso, all dated and signed. A treasure of a volume containing personal work of one of history's most renowned artists. Also features an introductory pamphlet explaining the thoughts and processes of the artist throughout the sketches presented.

Very good. Retains publisher's original clear glassine protective cover, in good condition, albeit with two tears present, some loss to printed titles and minor scuff markings. Tan cloth binding near fine, some minor wear at corners and extremities. Contents very good, some minor foxing throughout preliminaries. Introductory booklet shows minor age toning and some small markings on rear made by spiral binding. All reproduction leaves from Picasso's original are fine, clear and striking. A wonderful work.

"This portfolio is an exact facsimile of a sketchbook in which Picasso worked from November 1, 1955, to January 14, 1956. Within covers made of the same cardboard as that of the book Picasso bought, 25 sheets of the same thickness are held together by a similar spiral binder. On every page, whatever was traced by Picasso's hand has been reproduced with great accuracy by dedicated craftsmen using the most modern processes of lithography." - Introduction
