Preachers of Hate

From his position as BBC Europe correspondent, Angus Roxburgh lays bare the reason why Europe has become once again a fertile breeding ground for the Far Right through first-hand interviews with its supporters and leaders. He argues that we should be on high alert regarding the influence of radical thought, intolerance and charismatic leadership on ordinary politics. Since 1998 one by one the left-wing governments of Europe have been toppled by miscalulating the severity of the problems that face them. Deaf to the concerns of many of the traditionally left-wing voters, the entire spectrum of European political classes remain incapable of dealing with the strong domestic undercurrents surfacing in the aftermath of the events of September 2001.
