Collection of 13 short stories by Harrison. Most famous for the titular story which inspired the 1975 film "Rollerball". This original story is noted as being "way, way darker and more violent than the movie" with balls "as heavy as bowling balls" shot "out of cannons at 300 mph." The story serves as science fiction social commentary on "commercialism, trauma, alienation, and violence."
First edition. New York: William Morrow and Company, Inc., 1974. 8vo. Original black cloth and orange paper hardcover in original unclipped dust jacket. Pages: 189. Jacket designed by One Plus One Studios.
Very good in like dust jacket. Dust jacket unclipped, small water marking at foot of jacket spine and very mild toning to fold-ins. Hardcover bindings near fine, minor rubbing at corner extremities, one patch of wear at the top edge of rear board near spine. Contents near fine, mild yellowing to text block, otherwise free of markings.
