Praised as "the finest Salmon novel in English". A journey through the life of a salmon. A naturalist as well as a writer, Williamson spent a long period studying the water near his home at Shallowford, watching the fish and studying their behaviour.

Overall condition: very good. Dust jacket price-clipped, some minor rubbing and creasing along edges. Binding excellent, mild rubbing at corners. Foxing to foredge, and sporadically through contents. Otherwise, contents very good. Bookplate of John Gibson to rear of FFEP.
