First edition. Sydney: Allen & Unwin (1984). 8vo. Original cloth-effect hardcover in original unclipped dust jacket. 

Near fine. Dust jacket unclipped and in near-fine condition. Very minor weathering towards extremities. Hardcover boards in excellent condition. Minor wearing along upper and lower spine edges and towards extremities. End papers and pages in near-fine condition. Very minor foxing along top and fore-edges.

Scarce first edition in near-fine condition. Gifting dedication on front end papers from previous owner reading: "27/5/85 Dear Rig (?), Maybe this will provide better reading than past attempts. Happy Birthday, love, Carmel." Tim Winton's second published novel.
