First Edition. Westminster: Archibald Constable & Company, 1900. Large thick 8vo. Original olive publisher's cloth. Pages: xvi, 241. 4 folding panoramas and two folding maps. Numerous plates, diagrams, and illustrations throughout.
Bound in original olive publisher's buckram. Cover and spine lettered in gilt on black buckram plate with gilt margins. Upper edge gilt. Very good. Binding square and tight. Rubbing at edges and corners, with some minor fraying at spine head and foot. Spine darkened, with remnant markings from previously removed sticker at lower. Some sporadic markings to cover. Contents complete and in excellent condition. Some foxing concentrated in sections throughout. All folding panoramas and maps are in excellent condition. Some minor foxing and bruising to seams from earlier misfolds. Second copy of second folding panorama loosely inserted at front. Overall, an excellently preserved copy of a very scarce mountaineering primary source.
