SARAH A. PARKER, you absolute GENIUS!!

The more I sit with my thoughts, the more I fall in love with this book. Sarah A. Parker delivered a sequel that exceeded all my expectations and more. I can barely put into words how much I loved this book with my whole entire heart.

This is the type of book you want to re-read the moment you finish it. From beginning to end, this book had me in a chokehold. This story is breathtaking, utterly heartbreaking and devastatingly beautiful. There were moments I had to put the book down and just gather myself (and also wipe the tears from my eyes so I could actually see again) before diving back in. I absolutely loved book 1 but Ballad has solidified this as one of my God tier series.

Raeve is one of my favourite FMC's of all time and that's absolutely solidified in this. After everything Raeve goes through in this, and everything that came before, her ability to pick herself back up and dive into that icy lake of hers no matter how terrified she is has me so incredibly proud. I love her character growth throughout Ballad and I can't wait to see her in the next book. She is fierce, strong, messy and unrelenting when it comes to the safety of those she loves.

Kaan is top tier book HUSBAND material. I wanted to highlight every single thing this man says because he never misses. His love for Raeve transcends the pages, and you can feel it with every moment, every word spoken and every action taken.

I'll forever be obsessed with how Sarah A. Parker can write such tragedy and have my heart shattering to pieces, yet can have me smiling and genuinely laughing out loud in the next chapter. The banter in this, not only between Kaan and Raeve but between all the characters is definitely one of the highlights of the book.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I'm obsessed with this world. It's so beautiful and rich, and so well fleshed out. The story-telling is so vivid, I could easily picture each scene written on the page. I loved every single new addition - from the exploration of the world, to the new creatures and characters and lore. Honourable mention to the chapter headers!! I LOVED how many we got and how different they all were.

I always appreciate a good villain and Arkyn absolutely delivered. He is so well written and had me absolutely raging and hating him, there were moments where you could see why he turned out the way he did. Now this doesn't mean I agree with anything he did because I ABSOLUTELY DON'T but I love when you can see why a villain becomes a villain.

I could probably talk all day about how much I loved this book but it's hard to talk about the best bits without spoiling so I'll end with this - if you haven't yet read this series PLEASE DO! I promise you won't regret it (although this book will have you sobbing uncontrollably multiple times - I promise it's worth it).
