Bound by master binder Peter Carstens. Collector's Edition. Limited to 300 numbered copies, this being number 207, distinct from the standard subscribers' edition of 5,026 copies.

This 1984 publication reproduces ninety-nine of Finch-Davies finest paintings in full colour, each paired with the artist's own original notes on the facing page. Dr. Kemp's substantial introductory essay provides the first detailed published biography of Finch-Davies, situating his artistic achievement within the broader history of South African ornithology. The publication was described on its release as "an historic event in the annals of Southern African ornithology and publishing," reflecting both the significance of Finch-Davies's rediscovered body of work and the ambition of its production.

Fine throughout. Clean and bright internally. Bindings sound. Leather remains strong and supple. A touch of shelf fading to spine. Slipcase also fine, extremely well preserved.
