An authoritative accounting of pre-19th century mountaineering. Bound in original blue publisher's buckram. Gilt lettering to cover and spine. Mountain illustration on cover blocked in gilt. Upper edge gilt, lower edge untrimmed.  

Overall condition: Excellent. Binding excellent, tight and sturdy. Gilt remains bright and bolt. Contents in excellent condition, minor markings here and there throughout. Plates beautifully preserved, bright and clear. An excellent copy.
