Douglas Mawson led the Australasian Antarctic Expedition to explore the Antarctic continent south of Australia. The scientific results of the expedition were published in a series of reports, and Mawson’s narrative of the expedition appeared as The Home of the Blizzard.

Pages: vol.1: [iv], frontispiece, xxx, 349; vol.2: [iv], frontispiece, xiii, 338. 18 colour plates, hundreds of black-and-white plates, numerous in-text illustrations, 4 fold-out maps in rear pastedown of vol.2 (3 maps, as called for, plus 1 duplicate of regional map collected from another copy).

Bound in vertically-grained dark blue publisher's cloth. Both volumes stamped in gilt, silver, and blind. Lettering in gilt on front and spine. Illustrations blocked in silver on both front covers. Publishers stamp in blind on rear covers. Very good. Slight wearing on spine edges of both volumes and some fading to gilt lettering. Contents of both volumes in excellent condition. Some mild age toning to end papers. Minor markings and foxing here and there. Contents clean and bright. Plates are bright, fresh, and contents clear.
