The final completed James Bond novel by Ian Fleming, published posthumously just months after the author's death in August 1964. This first edition represents the conclusion of Fleming's legendary spy series, featuring Bond's confrontation with the deadly assassin Francisco Scaramanga in Jamaica.

Published by Jonathan Cape in London in April 1965, this first printing is distinguished by the distinctive dust jacket artwork featuring the golden gun motif. While Fleming had intended to revise the manuscript further, his sudden passing meant this became his literary farewell to the character that defined modern spy fiction.

The novel holds particular significance as Fleming's final work and offers a darker, more introspective Bond adventure. It was later adapted into the 1974 film starring Roger Moore, though the movie diverged significantly from the source material.
