Harry Hartog's review
I can't keep raving about The Fan Brothers enough, any of their picture books bring me close to tears. "The Night Gardener" is no different, reminding me that art, even fleeting, can change everyone's perspective on life in a positive way. The Night Gardener is a mysterious man who turns trees into incredible animal topiaries for everyone to delight in, even if they disappear over the winter, the joy they have brought to the neighbourhood is instilled in all. Another Fan Brothers classic for me! - Dee, Harry Hartog Macquarie
Description
'Something was happening on Grimloch Lane. Something good.' A best-selling debut picture book about an orphan whose life is transformed by a mysterious night gardener bringing colour and life to his town.
One day, William discovers that the tree outside his window has been sculpted into a wise owl. In the following days, more topiaries appear, and each one is more beautiful than the last. Soon, William's grey little town is full of colour and life. And though the mysterious night gardener disappears as suddenly as he appeared, William and his town are changed forever. With breathtaking illustrations and spare, sweet text, this masterpiece about enjoying the beauty of nature is sure to become an instant classic.
