From the original Folio Society Pamphlet:

The standards of this series represent The Folio Society's continuing commitment to painstaking techniques of book design and production. Each title is set in hot-metal and printed lithographically. The typeface used in the distinctive 'Monotype' Bell, the first - and most attractive - of the so-called 'Modern' faces, originally cut in 1788 and used for many early editions of Trollope's novels.

A series binding of forty-eight books presents unusual problems for the designer, who has to bear in mind how the complete set will look on the bookshelf. The series has been designed by Malcolm Harvey Young, one of the country's leading book designers, with careful attention - to the Victorian styles with which Trollope's public would have been familiar. The buckram quarter-bindings come in a pleasing variety of shades that will, when the set is complete (as displayed in this listing), be neither monotonous nor garish. The books are printed and bound by the Bath Press, one of the foremost and most meticulous printers and binders in England.

Condition ranges from fine to very good across the set. Volumes generally bright and clean throughout. Most imperfections present to the slipcases, some of which show shelf wear.

Please note: This is a very large, 48-volume set and will require substantial and carefully arranged shipping. Please contact us for a shipping quote before purchase.
