London: Henry Frowde, 1905.
Pages:
xxxii, 976pp.

Thomas Hutchinson’s Oxford one-volume edition of the complete poems, the standard text of its day.

Wordsworth (1770–1850) is the central figure of English Romantic poetry. Thomas Hutchinson’s text, with its introductions and notes, was first issued by the Oxford University Press in 1895 and appeared in this compact single-volume form in 1904. It brings together the poems from the earliest pieces through The Excursion in a volume small enough to carry. It was reprinted repeatedly, and in the twentieth century Ernest de Sélincourt revised it. This copy is in a later binding of full brown morocco, with gilt-decorated dentelles and gilt edges.

Oxford edition. Small octavo, xxxii, 976pp. Rebound in full brown morocco, spine with five raised bands and gilt titling, elaborately gilt-decorated inner dentelles, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers. The leather is darkened to the rear face and there are some mild markings. The contents are very well preserved, very clean and bright, with a little foxing to the front and end matter. Remnants of a torn bookplate to the front pastedown. A very good copy.
