Organised by the Philosophical Institute of Canterbury, the Sub-Antarctic Islands scientific expedition of 1907 aimed to extend the magnetic survey of New Zealand by investigating Campbell Island and the Auckland Islands. Additionally, botanical, biological, and zoological surveys were also conducted. These volumes detail the expedition's findings and represent one of the most comprehensive early scientific surveys of New Zealand's subantarctic islands.
