Victor and Eli, both brilliant, arrogant, lonely boys, meet as college roommates. Always competing, they draw out the best - and worst - of each other. They start a shared research project to prove the existence of ExtraOrdinaries, with startling results. Their theory: under the right conditions, anyone could become an EO. But when their thesis moves from the academic to the experimental, things go horribly wrong.

Ten years later, Victor has escaped from prison to get revenge on Eli for putting him there. Aided by his cell mate and hacker Mitch, and Sydney, a young EO with more power than she knows, they stalk their prey without rest.

Meanwhile, Eli has spent the years hunting down and killing every EO he can find, convinced they are crimes against God. All except his sidekick, a woman with an indomitable will.

Driven by betrayal and loss, and wielding terrible power on both sides, Eli and Victor are on a collision course to revenge, with the deadliest of consequences.
