Hand-sewn. 42 pp. introductory text, followed by unpaginated facsimile pages reproducing Fryer's manuscript in full. Wood-engraved frontispiece, one further wood engraving, six wood-engraved drawings in the text, and a large folding map of the voyage of the Bounty's launch. Housed in matching slipcase. Limited edition. Limited to 500 numbered copies, this being number 471. Signed by Stephen Walters on the limitation page. Bookplate of Milton Whitmont to front free endpaper. Facsimile of the manuscript held in the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich.

The Voyage of the Bounty Launch is a wonderfully descriptive account by John Fryer, Master of the Bounty, of the mutiny and subsequent voyage in the open boat, after being cast adrift with Bligh by Christian and his fellow mutineers.

This beautifully produced limited edition book is a facsimile of the manuscript held in the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. It is hand-sewn and half bound in calf leather with marbled boards and sprinkled page edges. The facsimile is accompanied by a 42-page introductory text by Stephen Walters, the authority on the life of Bligh.

This copy bears the provenance of the Whitmont family in the bookplate of Milton Whitmont. The Whitmont family are documented among Australian collectors and have been the subject of scholarly study. Their library of exploration and Pacific history is well-known the be among the best collections within Australia.

Fine. Volume fine, presents beautifully. Slipcase shows some markings and imperfections.
