Bound in Original green publisher's cloth. Cover profusely illustrated in colour. Lettering to cover and spine in gilt and black. Rear cover margins in blind. Edges coloured red. Very good. Binding sound, square and tight. Rubbing to corners and creases. Wearing at spine ends, more prominent to head, where there is some loss. Covers show some markings and darkening towards edges, however the illustrations and titling remain clear and bold. Endpaper gutters show previous repairs, some fraying to foredge of FFEP. Contents very good. Some very mild foxing at preliminaries. Age toning throughout along edges, though not severe. Illustrations and plates remain clear and striking. Overall, this copy has been well preserved and presents beautifully.

Wundt's essential contribution to the rich German tradition of alpine literature. Combining practical descriptions of climbing routes with philosophical and aesthetic reflections on the mountain landscapes of the Dolomites ranges. In its own way, this book is as much a piece of literature as it is a practical climbing guidebook; it explores the emotional and spiritual connections that people make with the natural settings in which they climb.
